WHAT CROWN COACHING MEANS TO A LOCAL MOTHER
We had the pleasure of meeting Katy, her husband Mike, Katy’s mom, and their beautiful daughter NaYa when they signed up for their private 2-hour Crown Coaching 1-on-1 appointment with our Crown Coach, Emori Thrower at Rooted Barber + Shop. Our Crown Coaching program was made possible through a generous grant from Express Employment International! We are so grateful to have you as a partner!
Here’s what Katy shared about her experience with her Crown Coaching appointment.
CARETAKER TESTIMONY
“Took a crown coaching class a few weeks ago. I’m SO much more confident and way more empowered to do my daughter’s hair! This is our style this week. I’m still working on learning to corn row, but I’m very proud of my progress so far. With some wash day tweeks and some product changes it’s been night and day for her hair. Thank you thank you thank you!!! My daughter loves when we are finished with hair (she is 2 and doesn’t love the process yet) and she LOVES feeling beautiful and confident in her own skin & hair. It’s the best thing ever to see her shake her head and laugh and smile and say “I pretty.”

THE CUT IT FORWARD TEAM IS GROWING!
We warmly welcomed Angela Hein as our Administrative Assistant in May, and her exceptional dedication led to her promotion as Program Director in June.
July marked the addition of Christian Traylor as our new Administrative Assistant, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in operations.
With the growth of our team, we are excited to see Cut it Forward’s impact grow as well!
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We proudly partnered with RestoreOKC and the Foster Care & Adoptive Association of Oklahoma (FCAO) in July, expanding our reach and collaboration within the community.
We were delighted to attend the RestoreOKC Coffee Tour in July, an event that deepened our understanding of community needs and opportunities.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
June saw the launch of our Crown Coaching Program, which has already facilitated 11 1:1 appointments with families, serving 22 children and 17 caregivers. We are thrilled by the impact and are eagerly looking forward to more appointments in August and September.
Collaborating with Anna's House Foundation in June, we hosted a Crowning Curls Workshop, sponsored by a grant from our amazing partner, Aetna Insurance, that empowered 8 caregivers to better care for their children's unique needs.
Our presence was felt at three Back 2 School Bash events in July and August, including US Grant High School, Douglass High School, and Thelma Parks Elementary, ensuring that children had the essentials they needed.
We are overjoyed to share that a total of 7,185 products were donated, distributed, and provided to various partners and programs, significantly contributing to our mission, some of which was provided through a huge donation of skincare products from Thrive Causmetics!
