While most curly cuties have a mixture of hair types (on average 2-3!), it is important to determine the dominant hair type you’re working with to know how to properly address care. Sometimes this can be challenging, so we’ve added some tips below to assist you.

COILY

Bold. Futuristic. Fun.

Handle with care! Coily hair is fine and fragile, and the driest of all ethnic hair types. It is critical to keep this type of hair adequately hydrated and to take your time when detangling.

CURLY

Rooted. Strong. Dynamic.

While all hair needs moisture, make sure not to over do it with this hair type. Keep hair detangled and hydrated with leave-in conditioning sprays. 

WAVY

Versatile. Creative. Resilient.

The in-between hair type. Overworking this hair type can cause frizz and breakage. It can also be challenging to keep this type of hair in a style; requiring more routine maintenance.
